Our Mission Statement
The motto of the Hamel Fire Department is simple … “Service Before Self”!
The department members are a group of dedicated men and women from a variety of backgrounds and careers all sharing a common bond: a desire to help and serve others. We live and work in the community that we serve. Because of that, we share a special bond and connection… we are a family. That means when we respond to a fire, rescue or an emergency medical incident, it is our “family” helping your family.
We are dedicated to providing the highest level of services possible, and that means maintaining high standards for training. “The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work.” (Twain) and we embrace that concept. We hope you never need us, but we keep our training challenging, realistic and frequent to always be ready when called! Our preparedness goes beyond tactical training… it extends to how we train our leaders/officers, collaborate with neighboring departments and run our business.
The area we live in is undergoing a period of rapid growth in housing and while we are prepared to respond, we recognize the best approach is to prevent emergency situations from occurring in the first place. That is why we will be implementing a fire safety program for residents and businesses alike. Community outreach and education is by far the most potent weapon we have at our disposal.
Over the years, many things have changed in the fire service; including trucks, equipment, uniforms, protocols and technology. What has not changed, and remains a constant, is the willing commitment and sacrifice that fire department members make in order to serve our community.
On behalf of the men and women of the Hamel Fire Department, I want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you and for your continued support. If you have any questions about what we do, or have any comments, please do not hesitate to call me.
